Clearances

Clearances

As a part of the security process for serving on this dream team, you will need to complete and update your clearances every 5 years. Below are three different clearances that you need in order to serve on the team, along with some directions about filling out these required documents.

Submit your clearances below:

PA State Police Clearance (Act 34)

This clearance is required by the state of Pennsylvania to check for any criminal records within the state. If you’re completing this clearance on your own, please submit it as a volunteer so that the associated cost can be waived. You can submit a copy of a completed check or fill out a new form to get your results.

Child Abuse Clearance (Act 33)

This clearance is required by the state of Pennsylvania to check for any child abuse records. If you’re completing this clearance on your own, please submit it as a volunteer so that the associated cost can be waived. You can submit a copy of a completed check or fill out a new form to get your results.

Federal Clearance

The process for this clearance is determined by how long you have lived in the state of Pennsylvania. If you lived in the state of Pennsylvania consecutively for the last ten years, then you will need to follow the Swear & Affirm process. On the other hand, if you have not lived in the state of Pennsylvania consecutively for the last ten years, then you will need to follow the FBI Clearance process.

Swear & Affirm: After receiving the results of the PA State Police and the Child Abuse clearances, please contact your area’s director to get details about making an appointment with one of the church staff notaries to complete this form.

FBI Clearance: This is the only background check that has a cost for volunteers. You will need to register and make an appointment online. Please remember to bring one of the approved identification methods, as well as payment, to the fingerprinting location that you choose when making your appointment.
